The College Budget Template is, in effect, a guide. Just follow the steps. List your income, then you list your monthly expenses. There is also a place to list semester expenses, such as tuition, books and other items. The sources of your income will have to be considered. For example, if you have a scholarship that pays your tuition on your behalf, that is one less thing to worry about. However, if you are working your way through college with some help from your family, then every dollar is important.
The college budget template basically gives you a tool to compare your income with your actual and anticipated expenses. At the end of the template, you can list your monthly income and expenses and then list your semester expenses. You can divide the semester expenses by the number of months your budget covers, or just include the part that you have to pay.
The important thing is to keep track of all expenses and make sure they do not exceed monthly income. You also need to keep track of the semester expenses and do not use any semester money earmarked for tuition, lab fees, books and other items, for routine purposes.
You will not earn any semester hours for keeping track of these expenses. However, you will be able to manage your finances, which takes one stressful item off the table. This will allow more time for studying and time to relax.
